Behind Social Media
As a provider of social networking services (social media) should filter out what data can be accessed by third parties. A sign “Like” for some people may not be so important, but do you know that based on that sign I can know who can be said to be influential (central person). It does not depend on the number of friends or followers, but the response of what we put on our timeline. Suppose you have 1000 friends but to collect the amount of sign “Like” to 100 people there who takes up to a week, but there are also only 500 friends but not five minutes have been able to collect 200 number of signs “Like” and even continue to grow until 5000, because each marking means to be forwarded in the timeline of our friends then friends from friends and so on.
Then what is the benefit for the thief of this data, when I know who is the center (central person) then I just looking for what topic he likes to discuss, or by inserting another topic, or create a fake account about him, meaning to influence thoroughly (massive) and quickly. Such as influencing an ideology, political choice, product choice, mass fraud about something, including the spread of false news (hoaxes) and others. It may not be done now but may be done within the next two or five years.
Besides that I only talk about one central person, then what if many central person who become its target and have been known. Other than that only by one actor then how about many actors. Actually the analytical technique used for this is not against the law, but the question is how to get the data and for what, whether the data is obtained legally or illegally, and for what purposes.
Again, all that can be prevented by the service provider company.
Hopefully this article does not stop you from using social media
